In addition to showing off interesting gaming gadgets and a mixed-reality headset at the IFA 2018 Berlin on Wednesday, Acer also introduced the new generation of the world’s lightest and thinnest laptop computer – Swift 7. Acer Swift 7 is surprisingly lightweight (less than 1 kg ), thin (less than 1 cm) and has extremely small frames around the screen, which gives it an incredible 92 percent ratio between the screen and the hinged lid. In addition, the newcomer is 15% more compact than its predecessor. In comparison, Huawei’s MateBook X Pro has a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio, which it reaches by hiding the webcam inside its keyboard. It is unclear if Swift 7 has a webcam, Acer did not mention this. The company says it managed to reduce the dimensions and weight of the Swift 7 using materials such as magnesium and lithium, but did not go into details. Swift 7 is not a toy car, like netbooks of past years. It has a 14-inch display and 8th generation 5-watt Intel Core i7 processor, although other specifications were omitted at the presentation. Information on the price and release date has not yet been announced.
