Sales of the new 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro started a few days ago, and the ifixit team immediately got a copy of the device for its traditional disassembly. It would seem that the larger the device, the easier it should be to repair. However, this was not the case with the Apple iPad Pro. Perhaps the only merit of the design was the batteries – there are two of them with a total capacity of 10 307 mAh. They are not glued or soldered to the motherboard – special tabs appeared for extraction, making it easy to replace. But the display is combined with a protective glass and front panel into a single whole, which will significantly increase the cost of repair / replacement in case of damage. It is generally impossible to replace the Smart Connector with which the keyboard is connected, therefore, when using the product, this part should also be treated with care. Separately, a huge amount of glue is noted, they fixed almost all the components of the tablet, which significantly complicates the repair process. As a result, the Apple iPad Pro received a maintainability rating of 3 out of 10. As a result, the Apple iPad Pro was awarded only 3 points out of 10 ifixit on the maintainability scale.
