As planned, Apple released the final version of the mobile platform iOS 9, announced in early summer at WWDC. The size of the new operating system is significantly reduced – for iOS 9 it will take a little more than 1.5 GB of free space, while iOS 8 required 4 GB for installation. According to a company spokesperson, iOS 9 improves the performance and uptime of Apple’s mobile devices, especially for older gadgets, such as the iPhone 4S or iPad 2. The system will appear in an energy-saving mode that partially disables animation and reduces the frequency of the processor – using it can increase time device operation for another three hours. Of the main innovations, it is also worth noting the improved Siri voice assistant, multitasking with a split screen in the iPad, a new screen with useful information, improved system-level privacy, application updates and much more. Note that some improvements are not available in all regions and not for all languages. For example, the smarter assistant Siri has not yet received a Russian-language version. The News app will only work in Australia, the UK and the USA. In Russia, the Apple Maps function with public transport routes is also not yet available. Of interesting, we also note the updated Notes application. Now you can add lists, images, map links and sketches / drawings to them. Functionally, the application has become similar to the popular Evernote. New wallpapers will appear. On the tablet keyboard after installing iOS 9, the “Insert”, “Cut”, “Copy” shortcuts will appear. If you place two fingers on the keyboard, it turns into a touchpad, which is especially useful for moving the cursor and highlighting text. In iPhone, using the lever on the left side, you can not only put the phone into silent mode, but also block the screen from moving from portrait to landscape mode. Just like iPad.iOS 9 is available as a free software update for users of iPhone 4S, 5, 5C, 5S, 6 and 6S, iPad 2, 3, 4, Air, Air 2, mini, mini 2, mini 3, and also 5th and 6th generation iPod touch.
