Unusual situations happen even with the most professional companies. Apple service centers for a long time repaired his MacBook Pro 2018 by the American photographer Greg Benz, who turned out to be completely serviceable. The main reason was the user’s computer settings, the carelessness of the photographer and Apple employees. Beni faced the following problem. When the power button was turned on, the laptop screen remained black, but the computer fan was working, and the Caps Lock button also showed the operating status. After three warranty repairs, during which two motherboard replacements were made, the user received a new MacBook. However, the problem recurred. As a result, the photographer lost two weeks of trips to Apple service centers, and the company spent about 10 thousand dollars on repairs. At the same time, the laptop was checked in diagnostic centers, and several “specialists” from Apple worked with them. At the next trip to the Apple store, one of the employees simply illuminated the black screen of the MacBook with a flashlight from the smartphone. And the problem has been resolved. A user avatar was viewed on a completely black screen. It turned out that on the laptop the screen brightness was completely turned off. A funny situation arose for a simple reason – the photographer himself completely turned off the screen brightness when an external monitor was connected, and at one point after a reboot he forgot about it. Greg Benz made several conclusions from this ridiculous story and sent his thoughts to Apple so that the company could avoid a recurrence of such situations. The main problems, according to the forgetful user, are as follows: the brightness of the screen at boot is the same as when the device is turned off, meanwhile, the brightness control is available only after entering the system. Also, all external monitors turn off when entering the system, and the external keyboard at this moment cannot control the brightness. Another drawback in the work of the MacBook, the photographer considers the keyboard backlight off at the time of logging in. It should be noted that a message appeared on the photographer’s site from his friend who had the same MacBook Pro, who tried to repeat the launch of the laptop with the brightness turned off to zero. He found that the screen lights up at boot time. Thus, the problem of the photographer may lie in any other software settings.
