As part of the Project for the Promotion of City Charge program, organized by Tokyo Environmental Public Service Corp to promote renewable energy, Japanese manufacturer Sharp introduced the Solar Charging Stand, mounted in the back of a garden chair. The claimed efficiency of the solar panel is quite high and amounts to 30%. To store the energy received, a battery is provided, located under the seat. So the mobile device can be recharged even when there is not enough sunlight. Since the product has the shape of a chair, Solar Charging Stand can always be installed on the restaurant terrace, providing a favorable location on the back side of the back. The organizers of the program intend to equip with such chairs three Tokyo cafes in which visitors can charge the dead batteries of their gadgets by connecting them to the USB port built into the back and, thereby, joining the project on renewable energy sources.
