Inventors from Finland have developed a device that helps in the most accurate way to determine any drug in seconds. Owned by Spectral Engines. This development is small enough and fits easily on the palm of your hand. As the authors of the NarcoScan gadget say, this is the first pocket-sized reusable scanner designed for the police. Most likely, this device will be at the disposal of the Finnish police this winter, but so far only in test mode. And next spring, all police patrols in the country will be equipped with a pocket-sized drug detector. Spectral Engines, which operates at VTT, the Finnish Technical Research Center, is still finalizing the NarcoScan gadget, which weighs only a few hundred grams. Compared with the analogues on the market, this device is 20 times cheaper and more compact. It was possible to achieve such important advantages, among other things, and due to the fact that the smartphone’s own display with a processor replaces this gadget. The device identifies the presence of drugs using infrared spectroscopy. In this case, the minimum concentration of substances is enough. Information is sent to cloud services, and then analyzed by algorithms developed by the same company. The results of the analysis are displayed on the smartphone’s display in a special application. In a matter of seconds, the algorithm is able to determine such “hard” drugs like amphetamine, heroin and cocaine. The developers promise to expand the list of defined narcotic substances and update it in a timely manner as necessary.
