How many counterfeit products, including game consoles, telephones, laptops and accessories, are on sale today on the international market? Employees of the International Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have provided official statistics. Their findings are confusing. According to the organization, more often inventive entrepreneurs fake game consoles for the international market. Counterfeit in the category is 24%. The second place, with 19%, is shared by audio equipment and smartphones, including components and accessories for gadgets. Third place in the statistics of counterfeit products with 15% is occupied by memory cards, flash drives, card readers and adapters. The official report also includes laptops, desktop computers, tablets, devices for remote control, they account for 6% of counterfeit goods. Fake batteries – 5%, followed by printers, scanners, cables and chargers. It is understood that the operation of products of dubious origin can lead to involuntary fire of the gadget or electric shock to the user. In addition, hazardous substances such as lead and cadmium can be used in the manufacture of such devices. Most of the fakes are made in China. Gray products violate intellectual property rights the most, damaging sales and reputation to corporations located in the USA – 43%, as well as Finnish (25% and Japanese (12%) companies.
