In the summer of 2013, Google’s vice president of product management at Google, Hugo Barra, joined the fast-growing Chinese startup Xiaomi. Since then, he has been the face of the manufacturer in the international market, and has also been responsible for some questions regarding the company’s activities. Three and a half years later, Barra announced that he was leaving his post and returning to Silicon Valley. “I believe that Xiaomi is now taking a stable position on the path to global expansion. From a local startup, Xiaomi quickly and successfully grew into a large well-known company. “Once a good time had to come to return home, and it has arrived.” Barra wrote on his Facebook page. According to Hugo Barr, during his stay in China he worked hard, which negatively affected his health. In addition, Hugo wants to return to his usual circle of friends, to his family and friends, with whom he had to reduce communication due to work abroad. Xiaomi CEO and Co-Founder Lei Jun thanked Hugo Barr for the work done and also announced his successor, Xiang Wang. He currently holds the position of chief vice president of the company. After celebrating the Chinese New Year, Hugo Barra will leave the company and return to the United States, but he will not be home without work. Mark Zuckerberg on his Facebook page has already boasted that the former top manager of Google and Xiaomi will work for him. Hugo Barra will lead the direction of virtual reality and the Oculus team.
