Honda unveils a humanoid emergency rescue robot. The E2-DR model is an improved version of a similar Asimo rescuer, demonstrated in the year before last. According to experts, both robot models are able to climb the ladder. E2-DR was supplemented with new opportunities: climbing standard stairs, stepping over obstacles, squeezing through narrow passages, for example, pipes, moving along an imperfect ruin on a ruin simulating, passing through closed doors along corridors in the house. The robot can move on a pair of limbs at a speed reaching four kilometers per hour. On the four limbs, this figure drops to 2.3 kilometers per hour. E2-DR withstands temperature extremes between -10 ° and + 40 ° C. It can even work for 20 minutes in heavy rain. The total battery life is 90 minutes. The robot is equipped with two Hokuyo rotating laser rangefinders, a monocular camera with a synchronized LED flash, an SR4000 camera and an additional stereo camera connected to an infrared projector. All cameras are endowed with a three-dimensional sensor. Fully loaded, it reaches 168 centimeters in height and weighs 85 kg along with a 1000-watt lithium-ion battery. In the largest part, the width of his body is 25 centimeters, which allows him to squeeze through 30-centimeter gaps. It is controlled remotely by the E2-DR. The manufacturer continues to refine the model, which at this stage is a prototype. The developers want to equip the device with a special system that allows you to manage it in really difficult circumstances. When the final model of the robot can appear, it is not reported.
