The owners of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are faced with an unpleasant surprise – the new devices, despite the pristine ideal appearance, are blocked by the Activation Lock protection system. The reason is an incorrect verification of Apple ID, by which the purchased smartphone is considered already tied to someone else’s account. Cases are not isolated and the MacRumors resource drew attention to this problem of users. It is reported that holders of the iPhone 6s / iPhone 6s Plus and earlier models also complain of a similar error if the devices went through the factory reset procedure. Another user said that his iPhone 6s was blocked after acquiring and activating the new iPhone 7. Some victims said that with the help of technical support from Apple or Genius Bar employees in official retail stores, they still managed to activate their smartphones. Other owners were offered to replace the device with a new one (when the activation is reset again). What causes the anomaly is not yet clear. Most are prone to a problem in the iOS 10 security system, but Apple has not publicly commented on this situation.
