Fierce competition in the market forces manufacturers to adapt not only to the needs of potential buyers, trends in fashion and technology, but also to rivals’ products, which are able to take hold of a new segment and, therefore, a tidbit of income. The availability of an affordable Apple iPad for schoolchildren and students, worth 25,000 rubles and able to work with a stylus and other accessories, prompted Microsoft to release its own analogue – the Surface Go tablet for $ 399. The announced gadget is part of the Surface line of Windows devices and is a smaller and less powerful version of the Surface Pro. Appearance also has a similar design, the body is made of magnesium alloy. The 10-inch display has a resolution of 1800 × 1200 pixels and an aspect ratio of 3: 2. Above the screen is a 5-megapixel selfie camera, which is responsible for recognizing the owner’s face using Windows Hello technology. On the back there is a built-in stand that allows you to use the device on a table without a branded cover and the main camera is 8 megapixels. At the ends there are: a microSD card slot, a 3.5-mm audio jack, USB Type-C and the proprietary Surface Connect. Inside, there is a 7th generation Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y processor, 4 or 8 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB on an SSD drive. The claimed battery life on a single charge is 9 hours. The role of the operating system is played by Windows 10 in a special simplified S-mode, in which it is impossible to install programs through exe-extension. Instead, it is suggested that you use the Microsoft Store. Perhaps there will be an option for a free upgrade to the full version of Windows 10, as was the case with the Surface Laptop. Microsoft Surface Go supports the proprietary Type Cover keyboard and Surface Pen, but they will have to be purchased separately for $ 99 each accessory. A special $ 35 mobile mouse and $ 129 Go Signature Type cover are also offered. The base Microsoft Surface Go model with 4/64 GB of memory and a Wi-Fi module costs $ 399. The version with 8/128 GB of memory and Wi-Fi support is priced at $ 549. Pre-orders for the device in the United States began today, buyers will receive their tablets in August. Towards the end of the year, Microsoft will release a top-end modification with support for LTE, 8/256 GB of memory and Windows 10 Pro.
