NASA has successfully conducted fire tests of the RS-25 rocket engine, intended for use on manned missions outside Earth orbit, including the first manned mission to Mars. During the tests, the operation of the controller controlling the fuel valves was checked, while the engine was exposed to high pressure. RS-25 is planned to be installed in the Space Launch System (SLS) super heavy ship under construction. The first test flight of the launch vehicle is scheduled for the end of 2018. By this time, NASA will conduct three more rocket engine tests.
