At CES 2019, which will be held next month, Samsung boasts its OLED panels with the “Sound on Display” (SoD) innovation. The technology was already featured earlier this year during the SID DisplayWeek (SID 2018). SoD panels will replace standard speakers, and the display will transmit sounds. This means that Samsung will apply vibration and bone conduction and place components below the surface of the screen, leaving more room for the display. SoD panels can be used for next-generation televisions. For the first time, new technology was demonstrated on a device with a 6.22-inch display and a screen resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels. When this technology will be used everywhere is unknown. It is rumored that the next representative of the “A” line of smartphones will be equipped with Sound on Display panels, Galaxy S10 family models will not receive any innovation. LG is also working on similar sound technology on the display, and they will probably also present it at this event. CES 2019 will begin on January 8th and end on January 12th. There Samsung and many other brands will demonstrate their new technologies that can be used in devices in 2019 and subsequent years.
