On August 30, air leaks were recorded on the International Space Station. The crew has already found the cause of the problem. This is a small hole in the wall with a diameter of two millimeters. It is located on the inside in the household compartment of the Russian spacecraft Soyuz MS-09, docked to the International Space Station. Another microcrack was also detected already on the outside of the module. The head of \But there are also suggestions that the cause of the incident could be a manufacturing defect or fatigue of the ship’s metal. The crew photographed the holes and sent pictures to Earth. The flight control center must decide what to do about it. So far, the hole through which the air has leaked has been sealed with adhesive kapton tape and sealant, which is enough to safely complete the mission of the spacecraft docked to the ISS. The leak stopped according to the ultrasound scan. According to the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin, they plan to eliminate the hole more thoroughly, but without going into space. At the same time, there is currently no threat to the health and life of ISS crew members. Inside the ship, the astronauts installed patches. In the future, ISS crew members intend to study microcracks with an endoscope on board.
