The most important innovation in EMUI 9.1 is the introduction of the new Arc Compiler technology, which significantly increased the speed of the operating system and applications. Huawei claims that Arc Compiler can reduce the response time of embedded and third-party software by 44% and 60%, respectively.
EMUI 9.1 also implements the new EROFS (Extended Read-Only File System) file system. It was created by Huawei developers from scratch, taking into account the features of the company’s smartphones. This file system increases the speed of reading data from disk space, and also improves the speed of the operating system and applications. In addition, thanks to it, the firmware more efficiently uses the place in the drive.
There will be other innovations in EMUI 9.1, including those that are noticeable to users. The company redesigned the shell, making its interface more unified and minimalistic. Most of the elements and system icons were redrawn and brought to a common design. Pre-installed applications underwent rethinking – they received improved design and new features. For example, the Health app can connect to fitness gadgets through the NFC module (if available).
After upgrading to EMUI 9.1, an application will appear on the smartphone that allows you to establish communication with the Huawei laptop. Thanks to this, you can transfer files from one device to another through a wireless connection in conjunction with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. In addition, two devices have a common clipboard.
Previously, Huawei listed smartphones that will upgrade to Android Q and EMUI 10.
