Those who have dealt with robots or similar technical gadgets are well aware of how fragile they can be. But this does not apply to the Japanese four-legged QRoSS robot – it is not at all afraid of either falls or throws. The secret of stability lies in the spherical frame, which is a kind of shock absorber that protects the structure from damage. On a horizontal surface, the robot moves with the help of manipulators, and overcomes irregularities with rifts. In order not to damage the limbs during throws and falls, QRoSS hides them inside the frame until the structure becomes stable. It is assumed that the invention will be useful to special services and rescue workers.
