The American company Bell Helicopter arranged a demo test of its new V-280 Valor convertiplane. Demonstration tests were held in hover mode. In the same mode, the V-280 Valor performed and rotation. He also showed that he is able to fly horizontally in helicopter and airplane mode. Next year, the United States Army will present the new product as part of the FVL tender. Previously, the device has already flown, having made a horizontal flight, as well as taking off at an angle of 80 degrees. Steep climb at such an angle provides the tiltrotor a fairly small mileage. This significantly reduces the amount of fuel consumed by him. Moreover, it is with such a take-off that the V-280 Valor is able to lift larger masses of cargo than with a vertical take-off. In the spring of this year, the device was tested in airplane mode. During the flight, the tiltrotor accelerated to a speed of 325 kilometers per hour. During the tests, experts checked how the V-280 Valor replaces various types of flight: airplane and helicopter. They also evaluated the operation of equipment on board. The project of this device was presented to the public five years ago. The developer plans to provide the ability to make a tiltrotor of both types of take-off: horizontal and vertical. It’s important that managing this kind of transition is very difficult. After all, when the device is transferred to airplane mode from helicopter, it substantially loses in the course.
