Hackers can take control of trains using Wi-Fi. For this, it is enough for cybercriminals to hack into the local network. These conclusions were voiced by experts of Pen Test Partners, which deals with cybersecurity issues. It turns out that in most railway companies there is no Wi-Fi division by access level, that is, for passengers and employees. Having hacked the local network, the cybercriminal gains access to the control of the car and the data of passengers who paid for using Wi-Fi on the train. Specialists of the company, studying the issue of safety in railway transport, also noted that the trains use old equipment without an updated operating system. So, hackers can for a long time monitor the movement of the composition and data of passengers. It is possible that criminals can mine cryptocurrency through the local train network. Hacker attacks are not rare these days. An example is the situation with Cisco, when users in different parts of the world were disconnected from the network. In addition, specialists at the University of Berkeley found that voice assistants can be controlled remotely using special sounds. Moreover, these sounds are not audible to the human ear and they can be encrypted in videos or songs presented on YouTube or elsewhere. How do assistants behave when they hear these sounds? Siri dials the indicated number, Alexa opens the front door, and the Google Assistant sends the transfers.
