YouTube video hosting has released its own list of the best, in their opinion, smartphones. Devices with certain criteria now receive the YouTube Signature Device recommendation. YouTube gives a recommendation for smartphones that play videos best. What criteria are used to evaluate can be found on the YouTube Device Report website. It is noted that the resource has created a classic list and does not rank devices by quality. The main criteria were: the ability to view 4K and 360-degree videos, providing a high frame rate and support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) and new video formats. The list includes 18 flagships, including the new Galaxy Note 9, but not a single iPhone. Apple smartphones do not support Google VP9 video codec, respectively? Safari cannot display videos in 4K resolution, which does not meet YouTube’s quality criteria. It remains a mystery: is this really the problem or is the list just a Google marketing move and they are not interested in promoting a competitor. The list of all recommended devices looks like this: Samsung Galaxy Note9, Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, HTCU12 +, One Plus, One Plus 6, LG G7 ThinQ, Xiaomi Mi 8, Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, Sony Xperia XZ2, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S9 +, Google Pixel 2, Google Pixel 2 XL, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Samsung Galaxy Note8, LGV30, Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung Galaxy S8 +.
